Equatorial Guinea was a Spanish colony and it inherited part of its Francoist and colonial legacy. Today, laws such as the Vagos y Maleantes (vagrants and thugs) law are still in force, which persecutes and punishes the LGTBIQ+ population with reconversion therapies and corrective rapes. However, sexual dissidence exists, care for each other and build community under the umbrella of Somos Parte del Mundo (SPDM), the only LGTBIQ+ organisation active in the country, working persecuted and in exile.
Two lesbian activists from SPDM will talk to journalist Zuriñe Rodríguez about the situation in Equatorial Guinea, LGTBIQ+ challenges and international alliances.
