The festival

Zinegoak, the Bilbao International LGBTQIA+ Film and Performing Arts Festival, was founded in 2004 as a tool for raising awareness and transforming society through culture. Since then, it has evolved to become a touchstone festival in Spain and abroad.

Each year, the festival brings together a careful selection of contemporary queer works, many of which have been recognized in prestigious competitions. These range from stage performances to audiovisual productions, and include fictional works, documentaries and pieces in other formats. The festival also bestows an Honorary Award on distinguished figures in film, culture and LGBTQIA+ activism, and has an International Jury composed of professionals from the audiovisual sector and specialists in queer culture.
